Apple airs modified Intel ad in UK

Apple is airing a slightly different version of their Intel ad in the UK. They have changed the voice over to remove the 'dull little boxes dutifully doing dull little tasks' line and replaced it with, 'dutifully doing all the things PC's were built to do.'
This change makes this a less effective ad, but you don't have to take my word for it because you can watch it yourself.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

This is unfortunate, but predictable. I guess Intel didn't like the majority of their clients being called "dull."

If this were the US ad, it would be awful. The original ad is light years better. I hope Apple doesnt cave to Intel and edit the original to this in the US. Ugh!

I saw this on Channel 4 this morning, thinking "huh? Whats with the voiceover?"
It really doesnt have the same impact; it was just like, yeah "great".
But still, thats the first Mac I've ever seen advertised on UK TV.

I saw it this morning, and thought 'What?' At first I thought it was just another advert that looked similar to the Apple one, but then I realised they'd changed it.
Sad they had to do this, PCs ARE dull little boxes.

LAME! I know they had to change it, but they probably could have come up with something a little better...

the entire voiceover is different - sounds like crap compared to the original.

Totally ruins the original concept. The voice sounds distorted and the accent is way off.

They probably changed it for fear they'd get slapped down by the Advertising Standards agency like they did for the G5.

Ricky, what British accent?! It's the same american guy doing the voiceover!
Also, when you do "Save As Quicktime Movie", it says "final_factory_UK.mov" which may suggest this ad is primarily for the UK.

What accent are you guys talking about? In the ad linked to above, that's Kiefer Sutherland speaking, just like in the original. Granted he sounds different and weird, but he's not trying to sound British.
ps. Sorry if this is self-promotional, but while we're on the topic of this ad: I mashed up the original with a clean room scene from David Cronenberg's 1981 sci-fi classic "Scanners". If you're interested, it's at:

Um... I'm almost positiveit's the same voiceover, and there is no british accent nor are they trying to fake one. I'm pretty sure it's actually Kiefer Sutherland, he does alot of voiceover work. And he was born in the UK. So shut it.

No offence taken Ricky, whatever ROFLing is. The accent isn't British. It's somewhere North American.

UK ads are much more limited in making comparisons to other products. So no doubt this was a major factor in the edit.

The entire voiceover is different. Some parts rerecorded, other changed. The music is shortened as well.

I would agree with Diarmuid in that it was not an intel thing but a 'have to' thing. Europe doesn't allow direct comparisons (and I'm pretty sure that involves insulting). But the new words just don't feel right...they don't have the same affect.
